Plot Summary: During the mid-Tang Dynasty, regional warlords were carving up the land, and eunuchs were dominating the government with arrogance. The controversial ‘talented scholar’ Yuan Zhen, who became the prime minister for less than three months, was accused of forming a faction and assassinating political rivals. The court and the people were outraged, and the Tang Emperor ordered a joint trial by three departments for the conspiracy case. On the brink of disaster, Yuan Zhen went alone to an abandoned old house to keep an appointment after the night curfew, where his close friend Bai Juyi was waiting.
