The City God Temple, with the existing buildings renovated in the Jiajing years of the Qing Dynasty. The brick, stone, and wood carvings in the temple are numerous and exquisite. Since ancient times, it has been known as the number one in Jiangnan and is known as the “three unique masterpieces”. The ancient stage in the temple is not only tall and magnificent in architecture and extremely rare in the world, but also an important place for early Yue Opera artists to perform. Yuan Xuefen, Fu Quanxiang, Fan Ruijuan, Wang Wenjuan, Shi Yinhua and others have all performed at the City God Temple. There is a glorious page in the history of Yue Opera, so it is called the “cradle of Yue Opera art” by historians. On the west side is Huian Temple, which is integrated with the City God Temple. The famous eminent monk Master Wu Dao serves as the abbot. The corners of the hall are towering and the statues are solemn. The City God Temple is a miraculous scene and a blessed place on earth.
