Between Kongwang Mountain and Jinping Mountain, there stands a small hill not exceeding a hundred meters in height – Shi Peng Mountain. This is the place where the great Song Dynasty poet Shi Manqing enjoyed drinking and feasting, and the great literary figure Su Dongpo climbed to compose poetry. Located not far to the east of Haizhou City, it is nestled among hundreds of acres of peach gardens, creating a sea of flowers in spring.
Although Shi Peng Mountain is not very tall, it features rugged rocks in bizarre shapes. Ancient people, with their rich imagination, have given life to many stubborn stones, such as Wanhua Rock, Buddha’s Hand Rock, Turtles Exploring the Sea, Rhinoceros Fighting Elephant, Sky Gazer Leaping Alone, Sea Lion Looking at the Moon, Golden Monkey Paying Homage to the Mountain, as well as the exquisitely crafted Shi Jian Stone, Furong Cave, and Xiao Jiuqu, among others. These are all enough to make tourists stop and admire, and forget to return.
