Shichahai consists of three water areas: Qianhai, Houhai, and Xihai. The water in the capital originates from the Baifu Spring, flows through the Wengshan Marsh, passes through the old path of sorghum, accumulates water to form a pond, thus creating Shichahai. It is the northern terminus of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and the central axis baseline of the Yuan Dadu city construction, hence the saying ‘Shichahai existed before Beijing city.


‘ This is a scenic area with an open water surface in the capital, the terminal of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal’s northern section, and a transportation dock, featuring a unique way of touring in the capital; the boatman’s chant that has been passed down for hundreds of years, the quaint and charming rowing boats, and the prosperity of transportation will be reenacted. The romance of fashion and classical, the sentiment of elegance and popular, all combine here.



The Shichahai boat tour covers the Qianhai and Houhai waters, with a total of 7 piers in use, including Qianhai Ping’an Pier, Dibai Pier, Lotus Market Small Boat Pier, Lotus Market Rowing Boat Pier, Haomeng Jiangnan Pier, Houhai Song Qingling Former Residence Pier, and Wild Duck Island Pier. Shichahai boat tours are divided into two types: rowing boats and small boats. On the 34-hectare water surface, you can take a sightseeing boat, follow the footsteps of history, and visit the temples, bell towers, and former residences of celebrities on both banks; or on the sightseeing boat, amidst the boatman’s creaking rowing sounds, listen to the boatman’s chant that has been passed down for hundreds of years, learn about transportation culture through the transportation exhibition, and appreciate the historical depth of canal culture.
