Shijian Hall

Shijian Hall is located in the west section of Baota Street. It faces south and is surrounded by water on three sides. It is adjacent to the Ditang City River in the south, the Xieqiao River in the west, and the Ou River in the north. One can go on the bridge through the front door and get off the bridge through the back door. It is convenient for both land and water transportation. It is a typical large mansion gate in the water towns of Jiangnan and a national key cultural relic protection unit. Shijian Hall covers an area of more than 2,700 square meters. The courtyard is deep and can be called the ‘large mansion gate’ in the water towns of Jiangnan. The deep residence has six high walls. From the first entrance to the sixth entrance, the terrain gradually rises. The six horse-head walls are also one higher than the other, corresponding to the good omen of ‘rising step by step’. Shijian Hall faces south and is surrounded by rivers on three sides. One can get on a sedan chair through the front door and get off a boat through the back door. It is convenient for both land and water transportation. In the 420-square-meter garden, there are pavilions, waterside pavilions, and回廊环旋,精心布置,堪称江南小园林。Opening hours: Open all year round from 08:30 to 16:30.
