Shijian Hall is located on the west section of Baota Street, facing south and surrounded by water on three sides. It is bordered by Ditang River to the south, Xiaqiao River to the west, and Ouh River to the north. The hall is conveniently accessible by bridge from the front gate and by boat from the back gate, embodying the typical grandeur of a Jiangnan water town mansion and is recognized as a National Key Cultural Relic Protection Unit.

Shijian Hall covers an area of over 2700 square meters, with deep courtyards that can be considered the ‘grand mansions’ of Jiangnan water towns. The extensive residence features six sections of high walls, with the terrain gently rising from the first to the sixth section, and the six horse-head walls also increase in height progressively, symbolizing the auspicious meaning of ‘rising step by step’.

Facing north and south, Shijian Hall is bordered by rivers on three sides, allowing for convenient access by sedan chair from the front door and by boat from the back door. Within the 420-square-meter garden, there are pavilions, waterside pavilions, and winding corridors, all meticulously arranged, making it a small-scale garden in Jiangnan.
