Shimei Garden, a newly constructed classical-style garden, is located at the southeastern foot of Yushan Mountain, adjacent to the ancient site of Shimei and Baiyi Temple, and neighboring the reading platform of Prince Zhaoming Liang Chaomin and the current Shutai Park, serving as an activity venue for retired officials.

The garden follows the natural contours of the mountain, with carved stone paths, multi-layered pavilions, long corridors, and bright verandas. Inside, there are natural mountains and dripping springs, providing a unique view from a high perspective. The combination of artificial and natural beauty serves the retired officials and has been praised by domestic and international tourists. It has been awarded the only plaque in the province by the ‘American Chinese Art Exchange Center’ in Washington, D.C. This garden is a unique creation of gardens in the new era of the Yudi area.

There is a legend about Shimei. It is said that in the Han Dynasty, the immortal Huang Chuping visited this place and threw a plum kernel into the stone wall of the hillside, which grew into a tree overnight. After the immortal left, the plum tree disappeared, and later generations carved seven plum blossoms on the stone wall, hence the name ‘Shimei’. Today, the stone carvings of plum blossoms no longer exist, but the inscription of ‘Shimei’ in seal script by Gu Guangyao from Xishan is still clearly visible on the cliff. Nearby places such as Shimei Street, Shimei Primary School, and Shimei Field are named after it.

The garden is open all year round from 8:00 to 19:00.
