Sucheng Chuanshan Waterfall Scenic Area

Chuanshan is located on the east side of Xingcheng in the Sucheng scenic area. In ancient times, it was a place for ships to take shelter from the wind, hence its name. There are three places on the mountain, namely ‘Yanwangbi’, ‘Liandong’, and ‘Dishuiya’, forming three-tiered waterfalls collectively known as ‘Chuanshan Waterfall’. After a rainstorm, when you arrive at Chuanshan, you can hear the loud rumbling sound of the waterfall hitting the valley from afar.

Ascending to the ‘Waterfall Viewing Pavilion’ with red pillars and golden tiles on the mountainside and looking up, you can have a panoramic view of the waterfall. The waterfall rushes along the valley. The clouds and mist on the mountainside rise and fall with the mountain stream. The three-tiered waterfall appears and disappears from time to time in the mountain valley. The waterfall falls into the canyon and flows underground for dozens of meters.

Then it encounters another cliff about 10 meters high. There is a large cave under the cliff called ‘Liandong’, which is about 10 meters long, 8 meters wide, and 2 meters high. In front of the cave, the waterfall pours down from the sky, scattering pearls and jade. This is the middle waterfall ‘Pearl Curtain Hanging High’. After walking about 200 meters along the mountain stream, you reach the lower waterfall – ‘Dishuiya’.

Dishuiya is more than 10 meters high and more than 20 meters wide. The rocks stand upright like a wall. When the mountain stream reaches above it, it becomes a horizontally spreading white silk. The waterfall hangs like a rainbow and the sound is like thunder, echoing through the mountains and valleys. The mountain stream flows down rapidly and converges into the Longtan at the foot of the mountain.

At the northern end under the cliff, there is a natural stone cave as large as a house. It is a herringbone-shaped cave formed by fissures. People can sit or lie down in the cave. Looking out from the cave, the waterfall on the cave roof turns into countless trickles, just like a curtain of countless pearls, glittering and dazzling. People call this lower waterfall ‘Spraying Jade and Spitting Pearls’.

Opening hours: Open from 8:00 to 17:00 all year round.
