In memory of Sun Quan, who was buried in Meihua Mountain, Nanjing City initiated the construction of the Sun Quan Memorial Hall at the Shouxing Palace site on the eastern side of Meihua Mountain, where Sun Quan’s tomb is located. The completed Sun Quan Memorial Hall covers an area of 7650 square meters, with a construction area of 1683 square meters. The architectural layout and style of the entire memorial hall adopt a courtyard-style combination and the residential style of the Han Dynasty in Jiangnan, highlighting the simple and majestic characteristics of Han Dynasty architecture, and reflecting the theme of Eastern Wu architectural culture. The main structure of the memorial hall is in a fan-shaped, embracing arrangement, with a semi-open square in front of the main hall, where the statue of Sun Quan, the Great Emperor of Eastern Wu, stands at the center of the square. The exhibition inside the hall is mainly divided into four parts: Heroic Youth, Struggle for Supremacy in the Three Kingdoms, Founding a Capital and Establishing a Career, and Soul Tied to Zhongshan, recreating the historical connections between Sun Quan and the Three Kingdoms, Sun Quan and Nanjing, and Sun Quan and Zhongshan, and concentrating on the foundational and pioneering part of the ancient capital Nanjing’s rich cultural accumulation – the history of Eastern Wu. The display cases also exhibit the eight-volume ‘Fuchun Sun Family Genealogy’ donated by the descendants of Sun Quan from Fuyang, which details the development history of Sun Quan’s family and enriches the collection of the Sun Quan Memorial Hall. Open all year round, Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00-17:00.
