The Dushu Lake Church is named after its location beside the beautiful Dushu Lake in Suzhou Industrial Park. The church was laid in 2008. On April 4, 2010, the first worship service was held on Easter. In May 28 of the same year, the dedication ceremony was held. The main body of the church adopts Gothic architectural style. The total construction area is 5,619 square meters and is divided into three parts: the main hall, the pastor’s building and the bell tower. The second floor of the main hall can accommodate more than a thousand people. On the first floor, there are four small chapels, each of which can accommodate more than 200 people. The stained glass of the church is quite distinctive. The gorgeous pictures well interpret the cultural elements of Christianity. The bell tower is 51 meters high and is equipped with five copper bells of different sizes. It can play church music and also chime the time. The cross standing in the water of Dushu Lake is an initiative of the church. It is 6.6 meters high and 3.15 meters wide. The statue of Jesus in the center of the church square is made of bronze. It is 6 meters high and weighs 3 tons. It is placed on a white marble base 1.8 meters high. The completion and opening of the Dushu Lake Church provide a high-grade activity place for the vast number of Chinese and foreign Christian believers in Suzhou, increase the cultural connotation of the park, and also provide necessary facilities for the standardization of religious activities.
