The Suzhou Folk Museum, which officially opened to the public on November 1986 in commemoration of the 2500th anniversary of Suzhou’s establishment, serves as a showcase of Suzhou’s folklore.
It is a professional museum in China that primarily displays urban folklore. Currently, the museum exhibits some folk artifacts and knowledge surrounding seasonal customs, auspicious customs, and child-rearing customs to enrich work and cultural life, and to enhance the understanding of friends from all regions and international friends of Suzhou’s traditional folklore culture. Opening hours are from Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00-17:00 all year round; closed all day on Mondays; on New Year’s Eve, 09:00-16:00; and open 09:00-17:00 on Spring Festival, Qingming Festival, and Dragon Boat Festival.
