Suzhou Sports Center is located at No. 183 Sanxiang Road, Suzhou City, to the south of the east end of the Shishan Bridge in the old city area, along the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal to the west, adjacent to the canal pump station to the east, along the canal branch – Lidouqiao River to the south, and backed by the urban traffic artery – Sanxiang Road to the north. The central part has an urban artery – West Road planned to pass through, which is a large-scale comprehensive public building invested and built by the Suzhou Sports Committee.
The architectural scale is grand and spectacular, with a superior geographical environment, convenient water and land transportation, interlaced communication networks, continuous green coverage, fresh cultural atmosphere, graceful artistic sculptures, comprehensive sports cultural facilities, and supporting services available in abundance. The commercial, logistics, and human flows are concentrated. Divided by West Road, the east area is the gymnasium area, with a construction area of 42,627 square meters, featuring a 6,000-seat international standard gymnasium with four floors for the main building, two floors for the annex, and some parts with three floors. The west area is the stadium area, with a construction area of 28,548 square meters, featuring a 35,000-seat stadium, an 8x400m track, and a standard football field. The two areas are connected by two pedestrian overpasses, integrating the sports venues into a whole. To the east of the gymnasium is the fitness hall area, with a construction area of 41,000 square meters, housing 20 kinds of activities such as swimming, badminton, squash, shooting, rock climbing, chess, fitness, leisure sauna, physical fitness testing, fitness instruction, and sports culture. The basement of the ground floor houses a large supermarket of an internationally renowned brand, and the rooftop platform adds coffee bars, darts, and other activities.
