Taicang Port, known as the ‘First Port on the Yangtze River’, has a history of thousands of years as a bustling hub for grain transport, attracting merchants from all directions. It is historically referred to as ‘The Number One Wharf in the World’.

Located in the eastern part of Taicang, on the south bank of the Yangtze River’s estuary, this place was formerly known as Liujia Port. It was the departure point for the famous Ming Dynasty navigator Zheng He’s seven voyages to the Western Seas. With its deep waters close to the shore, straight coastline, stable beachfront, unique scenery, and beautiful sea views, Taicang Port has been listed as an important mainline port of the Shanghai International Shipping Center and a first-class open port.

Adjacent to Shanghai and backed by economically developed areas such as Suzhou, Wuxi, and Changzhou, Taicang Port boasts a vast hinterland. It has 38.8 kilometers of prime deep-water shoreline and has constructed 21 berths. The ongoing second and third phases of development will see the completion of 114 berths with capacities ranging from tens of thousands to thousands of tons. In the near future, Taicang Port is expected to become an eastern giant port with a throughput capacity exceeding hundreds of millions of tons and will also become a beautiful scenic spot.
