The Taihu Bridge starts from Yuyang Mountain in Xumen in the east and reaches Datingshan in Xishan in the west. It crosses Taihu Lake and connects Changsha Island, Yeshan Island and Xishan Island. It is composed of Bridge No. 1, Bridge No. 2 and Bridge No. 3. Designed by the Bridge Branch of the Architectural Design Institute of Tongji University. With thin structure, low illumination and jade-white decoration, it blends in with the scenery of Taihu Lake. Construction started on October 27, 1992. In the late night of June 30, 1994, Bridge No. 3, which is 919 meters long and has 40 spans and connects Yeshan Island and Datingshan in Xishan, was closed first. On August 8, Bridge No. 1, which is 1768 meters long and has 73 spans and connects Yuyang Mountain in Xukou and Changsha Island, was closed subsequently. The total length is 4308 meters, the bridge deck is 12 meters wide, including a 9-meter roadway and 1.50-meter sidewalks on both sides. There are 181 spans in total, of which 45 spans are navigable. Bridge No. 2 is the one with a higher height and a larger main span among the three bridges. The elevation of the navigable span is 22.50 meters, allowing seven-mast fishing boats in the lake to pass through. The bridge railing is 1.30 meters high, with a colored railing of fine aggregate concrete structure and an intention pattern embedded in the middle. A grand opening ceremony was held at 10 am on October 25, 1994. Opening hours: open all day throughout the year. The specific business status is subject to the opening situation on that day.
