The Spring Waves of Turtle Islet is the quintessence of Turtle Head Zhu Scenic Area. It offers a panoramic view of the harmonious combination of Taihu Lake’s mountains and waters. A range of green peaks extends from Chong Mountain, stretching into the vast waves of Taihu Lake. The mythical giant rock at the islet’s head, embraced by water on three sides, stands firm against the waves, resembling a vivid divine turtle, raising its head proudly amidst the clear waters, exuding a majestic aura. There is a lighthouse on Turtle Head Zhu, standing perilously by the lake, serving as a navigation aid that ensures safe passage and embellishes the scenery. The Turtle Head Zhu Inscription, standing over two meters tall behind the lighthouse, is inscribed with the words ‘Turtle Head Zhu’ on the front, written by Wuxi scholar Qin Dunshi during the Guangxu period. On the back, it is inscribed with ‘Spring Waves of Turtle Islet’. On the islet, there is also the ‘Han Xu Pavilion’, an octagonal structure, hanging with a plaque inscribed by Chen Kuilong in 1919. Within the garden, forests, pavilions, and terraces are interspersed, with a towering lighthouse by the lake; islands seem to float in the distance, and the sound of waves crashing on the shore can be heard nearby. Numerous scenic spots are arrayed along the lake shore, each highlighting the accumulation of historical events, making this the essence of Turtle Head Zhu. The main attractions include the lighthouse, the ‘Turtle Head Zhu’ stele, the ‘Heng Yun’ cliff carving, the ‘Zhen Ze Divine Turtle’ bronze statue, Cheng Lan Hall, and Fei Yun Pavilion, among others. The scenic area is open all year round, accessible twenty-four hours a day.
