The mural hall covers an area of 4200 square meters, with the overall architectural layout divided into three sections: central, eastern, and western. The central section consists of ancient buildings that have been restored and preserved as carriers of the murals, maintaining the original courtyard layout and architectural style from the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom period. The murals currently on display were discovered in 1952 within two ancient buildings on Tangzi Street, which served as the administrative office for the Eastern King during the early stages of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. These murals were exhibited to the public in 1984, but due to environmental conditions and protection techniques at the time, the murals’ deterioration became increasingly severe, leading to their storage and protection from 1985 onwards. The themes of these murals range from traditional Chinese landscapes, flowers, and birds to depictions of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom’s defense of Tianjing and control over the Yangtze River traffic. The hall is open all year round from 08:00 to 17:00, with specific business hours subject to daily opening conditions.
