The Taohuadao Scenic Area is located in the southeast of Zhoushan Islands and is very close to Putuo Mountain and Zhujiajian. Huang Yaoshi, the ‘Eastern Heretic’ in Mr. Jin Yong’s works, lives on this island. It is also known because of the filming of ‘The Legend of the Condor Heroes’ and ‘Demigods and Semi-Devils’. The island has charming scenery and is a good place for summer vacation and leisure.
The Taohuadao Scenic Area is composed of six major scenic spots: Taohuayu, Tawan Jinsha, Anqifeng, Dafoyan, Taohuagang, and Xuanbogu Island. Among them, Taohuayu, Tawan Jinsha, Anqifeng, and Dafoyan are paid scenic spots and are also the main places for tourists to visit. Xuanbogu Island only accepts group tourists and independent tourists cannot go there. Taohuagang has very few tourists because the transportation is not very convenient. Visiting Taohuadao is suitable all year round, especially from June to October every year. However, try to avoid holidays when visiting Taohuadao. Because at this time, whether you take a boat to enter the island or take a minibus on the island to various scenic spots, there will be a lot of people. Of course, there are basically no peach blossoms here now. There are only artificial fake peach blossoms. There are two docks on Taohuadao, namely, Shaaoyu Ferry Terminal and Taohuadao Passenger Transport Station (thatched cottage dock). If you land on the island from Shaaoyu Ferry Terminal, then in the morning you can go to Dafoyan Scenic Area first. Here there is a seaside film and television base, the tourist city of ‘The Legend of the Condor Heroes’. You can see the imitation Song Dynasty pavilions and waterside pavilions and gate towers built near the water in an orderly manner. You can visit scenic spots such as Lin’an Street, Huang Yaoshi Villa, Guiyun Villa, and Southern Emperor Temple. Climbing to the top of Dafoyan and looking at the Zhoushan Islands in the distance has another poetic and picturesque feeling. After visiting, you can take the minibus on the island to Anqifeng Scenic Area. Here you can climb Anqifeng, the peak of Zhoushan. Looking at the Zhoushan Islands from the top of the mountain and seeing the strange rocks all over the mountain, you can also visit Shengyan Temple. Next to Anqifeng Scenic Area is Taohuayu Scenic Area. This is the area with the most beautiful natural ecological environment on the island. The main landscape you can see is the Donghai Divine Pearl, a stone ball with a diameter of 80 centimeters, just like a pearl in the mouth of the Dragon King of the East China Sea. In addition, Tantan Peak, Shen Diao Stone, Sea Turtle Patrolling the Shore and the Shy Guanyin are also worth seeing. If you are tired from playing, you can go to the Qianbu Jinsha Beach in Tawan Scenic Area and walk around and enjoy the sea breeze. The water here is blue and clear. In summer and autumn, whenever the rising sun emerges from the sea, the sea, sky and sand are integrated to form the celestial phenomenon landscape of ‘Jinsha Sunrise’, which is worth a visit.Most of the island is occupied by local farmhouses where tourists can stay and dine. For meals, you can purchase seafood caught by the locals and have them prepare it for you at a reasonable price.
Visiting Peach Blossom Island can be planned according to the dock where you arrive on the island and the hotel where you stay. Additionally, during the annual typhoon season, tourism on Peach Blossom Island is often affected. It is important to listen to weather forecasts before departure to avoid unfavorable weather conditions.
