Taozhu Ancient City

Taozhu Ancient City, located in Taozhu Town, Linhai District, Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province, is a historical landmark known for its significant role in the great defeat of Japanese pirates by the hero Qi Jiguang. Originally established as a defense post along the southeast coast of Zhejiang during the Ming Dynasty, the city was initially an earthen construction. It underwent a transformation starting in the seventh year of the Zhengtong Emperor’s reign (1442 AD) and was completed in just one year, by the eighth year of the Zhengtong Emperor (1443 AD). With a history of over 600 years, Taozhu Ancient City has preserved its original charm.
