Taozu Sacred Land, expanded from the original Muli Cave, boasts three main attractions: the stalactites of Muli Cave, the bamboo forests covering the mountains, and the pottery-making at Fan Li’s Kiln. Cultural landmarks based on the love legend of Fan Li and Xi Shi are scattered throughout the scenic area. In summer, the bamboo forests shield the scorching sun, and the cave stays cool, making it an ideal place to escape the heat.
Located 28 kilometers southwest of Yixing City, in Jintang Mountain, just three stops away from Yixing’s Bamboo Sea, Taozu Sacred Land is overshadowed by the fame of the ‘Three Caves of Yixing’: Shanjuan Cave, Zhanggong Cave, and Linggu Cave, resulting in fewer visitors.

The main entrance to the north of the scenic area, modeled after an ancient city gate, also serves as the Fan Li Cultural Exhibition Hall, featuring图文并茂 of Fan Li’s life. After passing the statue of Fan Li in Fan Li Square, one arrives at the exit of Muli Cave, where a pool of clear water holds a statue of Xi Shi. Standing at the Waterfall Pavilion, one can see the artificial waterfall cascading down the cave’s rock face.

Muli Cave is the essence of the scenic area, with its exit at the main gate and its entrance requiring a climb over a mountain. The mountain is not difficult to ascend, with many small attractions along the way, so time-conscious visitors should hurry. Following the mountain trail southward to the triangular Fan Bamboo Pavilion, and then to the fascinating ‘One Line Sky’, where Taihu stone forests form narrow gaps only wide enough for one person to pass through.

Continuing through the scenic spots such as the Crane Pavilion (Westward Pavilion), the Yuan Bao Stone, and arriving at the Bamboo Forest Corridor, visitors can walk on wooden plank paths and cross suspension bridges, surrounded by lush and lovely bamboo forests, including Jin Xiangyu Bamboo, Luohan Bamboo, and Purple Bamboo, among many varieties. Below, one can see the low-lying Taihu stone forests. Families with children can also visit the ecological amusement park in the bamboo forest to enjoy swings and slides.

Moving further south to the Thousand Turtles Longevity Pond, there is a sculpture of a large turtle carrying a small one in the pond. To the west of the pond is Fan Li’s Kiln, where visitors can receive a portion of pottery clay and create their own pottery using molds on the tables. To the east of the pond is the bun-shaped Ancient Kiln of Fan Li and the God of Wealth Hall, which offer less to see.

Finally, entering Muli Cave on the north side of the Thousand Turtles Longevity Pond, compared to the grandeur of Zhanggong Cave, Muli Cave appears more winding and secluded due to its narrow and elongated shape. The cave tour is approximately 900 meters long (including waterways), where visitors can see various forms of stalactites, some resembling welcoming pine trees, some like fairy herbs, and some like peacocks displaying their feathers, as well as scenic spots named after the legends of Fan Li and Xi Shi, such as the Beautiful Bridge, Xi Shi Well, and Husband-Watching Bridge.

Remember to look up, as there are many stalactites in the shape of droplets about to fall, lifelike and vivid. Near the cave exit, there is a waterway section of about 150 meters, where visitors can either take a boat ride or walk out of the cave.
