The 23rd China Shanghai International Arts Festival will be held from October 18 to November 17. Adhering to the festival’s purpose of ‘a grand gathering of art and a festival for the people’, through eight sections including ‘Global Art Sharing’ stage performances, ‘Artistic Sky’ public welfare activities, ‘Beauty in the City’ art education, ‘Creating the Future’ youth support program, ‘Connecting the World’ performing arts conference, ‘Gathering of Hundreds’ international dialogue, ‘Diverse Exhibitions’ city linkage, and ‘Infinite Exhibitions’ integrated innovation, more than 300 items and nearly a thousand various performances and exhibition activities will be held. Nearly 5,000 artists from more than 80 countries and regions around the world will come to Shanghai for exhibitions. With high-quality and high-quantity event content, upgraded cooperation and exchanges, and innovative experience scenes, it aims to create a cultural brand with world influence. On October 18, the original dance drama ‘Li Qingzhao’ by the Shanghai Dance Theatre will kick off the festival at the Shanghai Culture Square. This Shanghai ‘production’ uniquely interprets the spiritual world and family-country sentiment of the ‘first talented woman through the ages’ from a modern perspective. On November 17, the concert of Tugan Sokhiev, Zhang Haochen and the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra will conclude the festival at the Jaguar Shanghai Symphony Concert Hall. This festival is expected to hold about 250 various activities and a total of more than 700 sessions. Among them, in 57 main stage performances with 168 sessions, world-renowned masters and groups gather. Nearly 5,000 artists from 36 countries and regions will participate. The proportion of projects performing in Shanghai for the first time exceeds 90%. The performances of famous masters and groups such as the London Symphony Orchestra, the Bolshoi Ballet of Moscow, and Sarah Chang in Shanghai are the only stops in China. In addition, the festival continues to create new scenes of cultural consumption. ‘Artistic Sky’ will stage nearly 60 performances with 90 sessions in street communities, park lawns, and urban public spaces across the city, bridging the ‘last mile’ from elegant art to urban life. Among them, by linking commercial real estate, more than 20 concerts and immersive performances will be held in modern landmarks such as Shanghai Xintiandi in Huangpu District, Ruihong Tiandi in Hongkou District, Hongshoufang in Putuo District, and Hongqiao Tiandi in Minhang District.
