The memorial hall is divided into two parts: the original site of the Navy’s birth and the new hall. The original site is located in Baima Temple, Taizhou City, where there was originally a landlord’s manor. In 1949, when the People’s Liberation Army was preparing to cross the river, the East Line Command of the Crossing River Campaign was set up here. On April 23, 1949, the People’s Liberation Army – East China Navy was proclaimed to be established here.

On February 17, 1989, the Central Military Commission officially decided that Baima Temple in Taizhou is the birthplace of the People’s Liberation Army Navy. The main building of the new hall is novel and chic, resembling a warship, which not only has a strong modern atmosphere but also contains the thematic characteristics of the memorial hall.

The exhibition hall reproduces the history of the Navy’s birth and growth, such as ‘Baima Army Building’, ‘Powerful Sea Territory’, ‘Brave Forward’, and ‘Deep Friendship’, with a large number of documentary materials and pictures. It displays a variety of warships and aircraft models, uniforms, and a large number of physical objects such as crossing river wooden boats, showing the glorious journey of the People’s Navy from its birth in Baima Temple, Taizhou, to its development and growth to the present. Opening hours are 09:00-17:30 all year round; 09:00-17:00 all year round, with daylight saving time: after May Day holiday to National Day holiday, and winter time: after National Day holiday to May Day holiday.
