The Bund Origin is located at 33 Zhongshan East First Road, which was the former site of the British Consulate in Shanghai. It includes the main building of the former British Consulate (now known as Bund Origin No. 1) and the auxiliary building. The main building of the British Consulate was originally built in 1849 (the 29th year of the Daoguang Emperor), and the well-preserved structure dates back to its reconstruction in 1872 (the 11th year of the Tongzhi Emperor).

The facade features a British Renaissance style, with a typical English garden in front of the house; the roof is a Western-style four-slope roof, but it is covered with traditional Chinese blue tiles made locally. The auxiliary building has a more ornate architectural style than the main building, with additional decorations on both the facade and the interior. Open all year round, accessible 24/7.
