The Memorial Hall of the Victory of Crossing the Yangtze River in Nanjing is composed of the main exhibition area, the Yijiangmen Tower exhibition area (old hall), and the monument of the victory of crossing the Yangtze River. The main exhibition area is located in the Sanchahekou Park where the Yangtze River and the Qinhuai River meet. The exhibition hall of the memorial hall has nearly a thousand cultural relics and materials. There are four exhibition halls in total. The first part, ‘The domestic situation before the Yangtze River Crossing Campaign’, focuses on exhibiting that in July 1946, the People’s Liberation Army shifted from strategic defense to strategic offense. Successive Liaoshen, Huaihai, and Beiping-Tianjin campaigns were launched in Northeast China and North China, liberating Northeast China, North China, and vast areas north of the Yangtze River, laying the foundation for the victory of the Liberation War. The second part emphatically reflects the historical facts that the broad masses of soldiers and civilians in the liberated areas stepped up training and prepared to cross the river to welcome liberation. The third part, ‘A million heroic troops crossing the Yangtze River’, mainly exhibits that the million heroic troops of the People’s Liberation Army launched a huge Yangtze River Crossing Campaign on the front line of thousands of miles from Jiujiang in the west to Jiangyin in the east. The fourth part, ‘Planting red flags all over China’, the People’s Liberation Army only took more than three years to achieve brilliant victory in the Liberation War. On October 1, 1949, it declared to the world the birth of the People’s Republic of China. The memorial hall aims to vividly present this period of history and let people understand the hardships and difficulties of our Party.
