Qingyan Pavilion, originally known as Shi Fang, is one of the renowned landmarks within the Summer Palace, famous for its architectural presence on water. The pavilion’s cabin was originally designed in the style of ancient Chinese architecture. However, during the invasion by the British and French forces, the traditional Chinese cabin was burned down. In the 19th year of the Guangxu era, following Empress Dowager Cixi’s wishes, the original Chinese-style cabin was rebuilt into a Western-style cabin.

The vessel measures 36 meters in length and is constructed from massive stone blocks. The two-story cabin is wooden but painted to resemble marble patterns. The top is adorned with brick carvings, exquisite and magnificent. Operating hours are from April 1st to October 31st, open from 06:00 to 20:00; from November 1st to March 31st, open from 06:30 to 19:00, aligning with the opening hours of the main attraction, the Summer Palace.
