Junan Tianfo Scenic Area is located north of Junan County. Its main features include true mountains, true waters, and a grand Buddha statue. The Buddha statue, measuring 3800 meters in length, rests its head against the green mountains to the southwest and its feet against the bright lake to the northeast. It has a full forehead, a round chin, a slightly upturned lion nose, a constant smile, and kind eyes, with clear facial features, distinct limbs, and a serene demeanor, embodying profound mystery and a sense of being about to emerge.
The Wolfo Temple within the scenic area is thriving with incense, and the Tang dynasty locust tree, which has withstood the vicissitudes of a thousand years, remains lush and fruitful, bearing witness to the Wolfo Temple’s vitality. In 1996, to implement religious policies, the Wolfo Temple was rebuilt by the Junan County authorities and approved as a legal Buddhist activity venue in the Yimeng Mountain area. The Mahavira Hall, the Reclining Buddha Hall, the Sutra Pavilion, the Bell Tower, the Drum Tower, and the Stupa of Relics were successively completed, presenting a grand spectacle. The entire ancient architectural complex of the temple is simple and elegant, with flying eaves, bracket sets, carved beams, and painted rafters, exuding grandeur and solemnity. The Lotus Lake, covering an area of 700 acres, is like a bright mirror embedded in the middle of the scenic area. Willows hang by the lake, green grass spreads, pavilions and corridors shine, and the lake’s surface is sparkling with reeds swaying, lotus flowers reflecting the sun, fragrant water caltrops dripping emerald, and wild gulls flying across. The phrase ‘The fragrant snow sea of the seven-treasure lotus pond, exceptionally beautiful and dignified’ truly captures the essence of the Lotus Lake. The Lotus Lake’s famous scenic spots include the Mirror Terrace for Viewing Buddha, the Ling Pavilion in the Evening, the Calm Sea of Compassion, and the Leisurely Prajna. The Nine-Peak Lotus Mountain, viewed horizontally, resembles a giant dragon winding and soaring. The Guanyin Pavilion stands tall on the peak of the Lotus Mountain, majestic and solemn, a Buddhist venue for seeking blessings and offspring. From the pavilion, one can overlook the lake and mountains, taking in the full view of the small city’s seasons. On the eastern slope of the mountain, the pine and cypress trees are lush and verdant, with the scent of torch pines wafting through. On the western slope, the dense forest and secluded paths are elegant and unique, with the chestnut garden bearing abundant autumn fruits. The Daguan Pavilion stands tall, offering a panoramic view of the spring scenery, with boundless scenery. The One-Line Sky, Crocodile Emerging from Water, Ape Man in Contemplation, and Golden Turtle Listening to Zen are all delightful scenic spots. The Buddha Viewing Platform is located in the middle of the Tianfo Scenic Area and is a sacred altar for viewing and worshipping Buddha. On major holidays, the Buddha Viewing Square is crowded with people. Looking north from the platform, the Buddha emerges into the world, stirring the soul and inspiring reverence. The scenic area is open all year round from 07:00 to 21:00.Tianfo Scenic Area
