BY ART MATTERS Tianmu Art Museum, located in the Tianmu Li Park, is a contemporary art museum that is expected to open in 2021, designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop to the standards of world-class art museums. The museum will continuously provide a platform for artists to exhibit, communicate, and publish their works, aspiring to become the third place in people’s lives beyond living and working, and the first classroom for creativity. We hope to become a hub for domestic and international contemporary art in Hangzhou, providing momentum and support for perception, exploration, and creation. Through a rich array of exhibitions and public education activities, we aim to cultivate the public’s independent aesthetic for contemporary art and inspire the senses, thoughts, and spirit. The director of BY ART MATTERS Tianmu Art Museum is Mr. Francesco Bonami, an Italian curator and writer. He has served as the curator for the second SITE Santa Fe Biennial, the 50th Venice Biennale, and the 75th Whitney Biennial. Bonami has also been the editor-in-chief of Flash Art magazine in the United States, senior curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, and artistic director of the Pitti Discovery Foundation. He has curated exhibitions at the Whitechapel Gallery in London and the Hayward Gallery in London. The museum is open year-round from Tuesday to Sunday from 12:00 to 20:00; closed all day on Mondays.
