Tianzhu Mountain has two names. It currently refers to the main peak of the West Lake mountains, located approximately 5 kilometers southwest of West Lake, with an elevation of 412.5 meters. Due to the fact that the valley area north of Lingyin and San Tianzhu is the birthplace of West Lake Buddhist temples, and ‘Tianzhu’ is the ancient name for India, it is also called ‘Tianzhu Mountain’. Originally named Tianzhu Peak, it is also known as Tianmen Mountain. It is open all year round and accessible 24 hours a day.
