Tiaozini, nestled in the northeastern corner of Dongtai City’s coastal region, is named for its harbor channels that resemble strips, covering a total area of approximately 500,000 mu. This area is part of the Tiaozini Yellow Sea Ecological Area, which spans across China, North Korea, and South Korea. It is renowned for its vast intertidal wetlands, totaling 3 million hectares, and is recognized as one of the world’s largest. This makes it a globally significant coastal wetland ecosystem and a crucial stop on the East Asian-Australasian migratory route for birds.
The wetlands of Taiozini occupy the southern part of the Yellow Sea Ecological Area, marking a significant coastal wetland on the western coast of the Pacific and the edge of the Asian continent. They form a substantial continuous distribution of muddy intertidal wetlands within the ecological area.
Visitors can explore the Tiaozini wetlands all year round, with opening hours from 08:30 to 17:00 daily.
