Tie Jue Mountain is the second highest peak in Qingdao’s west coast, with its main peak ‘Hui Xian Peak’ reaching an elevation of 595.1 meters. The mountain is characterized by its layered peaks, flowing springs, lush forests, and fragrant fruits, earning its reputation as the ‘green core’ of Qingdao’s western forests and a mountain of fruits and flowers. It is also the source of the Jiaohe, Baima, and Fenghe rivers.
The Tie Jue Mountain Scenic Area is rich in cultural resources and has a long history. The ‘Qi Great Wall’, ‘Bao Shen Temple’, and ‘Guan Yin Cave’ are among the grand and spectacular historical sites that tell the story of Tie Jue Mountain’s vicissitudes and grandeur, showcasing the geographical advantages and charm of the ancient Qi and Lu regions. Historical figures such as Zhou Yuzhi, Fa Ruozhen, and Gao Fenghan have visited and lingered here, leaving behind numerous poems and splendid literary works.
The Tie Jue Mountain Scenic Area features steep mountains, iron-colored rocks, and a multitude of standing stones, with numerous springs and unique wooden and stone spirits. It is historically known as having ‘thirty-six peaks and seventy-two springs’. The ‘Hui Xian Peak’, ‘Tie Jue Suspended Spring’, ‘Heavenly Stele’, ‘Golden Toad Auspicious Elephant’, and ‘Sheer Wall Divine Cave’ are just a few of the diverse and enchanting scenes that captivate visitors. The ‘Tie Jue Suspended Spring’ is particularly famous for its miraculous water droplets that neither overflow in the heat nor dry up in drought, a wonder that has been celebrated as one of the eight scenic views of ancient Jiaozhou.
The scenic area, with its poetic description by the famous Qing Dynasty poet Zhou Yuzhi, ‘The sound of the zither seems to come out of the misty hills, the flowing water and high mountains are from ancient times to the present, why does Cheng Lian live by the sea, the wind and waves are just a clear sound’, evokes people’s imagination and longing for the magnificent scenery of Tie Jue Mountain. The scenic area includes six major functional areas: a fruit and forest picking area, a modern agricultural area, an ecological leisure resort area, a scenic tour area, a Qi Great Wall protection area, and a folk culture area. With its tourism planning and construction continuously improving, it is becoming a popular destination for eco-tourism, historical exploration, leisure fitness, and sightseeing vacations on Qingdao’s west coast.
