The ‘Toad Gazing at the Sky’ is believed to be the incarnation of the Moon Palace Toad King. Long ago, there were an abundance of mosquitoes and other pests in the western mountains and the regions south of the Yangtze River, leading to severe droughts and floods. Crops failed year after year, forcing the people to flee their homes in search of sustenance. To aid the suffering people, the Moon Palace Toad King, along with several other toads, descended to Earth to consume mosquitoes and various pests. Witnessing the hardships of the people, the Toad King took measures to eradicate the mosquitoes and pests. To prevent their resurgence, he transformed himself into a spiritual stone mountain, gazing at the sky and summoning rain and wind for the people. Since then, the world has enjoyed favorable weather, bountiful harvests, and a peaceful life for the populace. The site is open year-round from 7:30 to 17:30.
