Fei Gong (1905-1945 AD), originally named Fei Fuxiong, was a scholar and historian. Fei’s father was the brother-in-law of Yuan Shikai’s eldest son, Yuan Keding. In the winter of 1925, Fei Gong married in Suzhou, and his wife, Yuan Hui Quan, was the daughter of Yuan Keding. After graduating from Shanghai Fudan University in the autumn of 1928, he went to the University of Oxford in the UK for further studies. Upon returning to his homeland, he was successively employed by Fudan University and Zhejiang University, where he taught political economy and Western history. Fei Gong was a man of justice and courage, known for his daring actions and outspokenness. He repeatedly risked his life to protect progressive students. Fei Gong’s former residence is a typical Jiangnan residential building, made of brick and wood, standing by the river, and contains an exhibition of artifacts from Fei Gong’s life.
