Tongluo, formerly known as Yanmu, is located in the southwest part of Wujiang District. The name Yanmu has been in use for over six hundred years. Historically, Yanmu was a bustling commercial area with an 800-meter-old street, broad and wide, with continuous covered walkways along both sides of the Fengqiao River. Residential houses were built adjacent to the water. The town is rich in cultural relics and historical sites, including the former residence of the Ming Dynasty poet Wang Shoucheng, ancient residential buildings, Jiale Hall, Fenyang King’s Palace, and the municipal cultural heritage unit, Wang’s Residence.
Apart from the ancient town, old streets, a wine culture museum, the 280-year-old Jiale Hall, and the 600-year-old Fenyang King’s Palace, Tongluo’s other claim to fame is its natural ecological oxygen bar. It boasts a unique 35,000-acre ecological garden. Driving with the windows down, meandering through the shaded paths, one can feel the freedom and ease of life.
