Tongzhou Island, also known as ‘Datongzhou’, is named after the legendary ‘Tongjun’, the medicine saint from the Yellow Emperor period, who cultivated herbs on the island. It is one of the ancient river islets on the Fuchun River and the first sand island encountered when the river enters the territory of Fuyang.
