Tuisi Garden was built in the late Qing Dynasty. The owner, Ren Lansheng, retired from officialdom and built this garden for seclusion and living in his old age. Although the garden is small, it gathers the essence of classical gardens. There are ‘three plants, three masterpieces, and three treasures’. Pavilions, terraces, towers, pavilions, corridors, lanes, bridges, waterside pavilions, halls, houses, and studios are all available.

This is a classical garden outside Gusu City that has been selected as a world cultural heritage site. It has served as the shooting location for many film and television dramas and is a must-see place when coming to Tongli. Due to the limitations of the terrain and the owner’s unwillingness to show off his wealth, the architectural pattern of Tuisi Garden breaks the routine, changing from vertical to horizontal.

From west to east, the west is the residence, the middle is the courtyard, and the east is the garden. In Tuisi Garden, the ‘Boat Amidst Flourishing Red’ is full of dynamism. The stone boat protrudes abruptly in the pool. It is unmoved by the wind and unshaken by the waves. Standing on the bow of the boat, one has the feeling of a small boat swaying on the lake. The boat is supported by lake stones and half immersed in the clear water.

The water flows and swirls through the holes and crevices of the lake stones, and the gurgling sound is incessant. On the water surface beside the ship’s side, the reflections of floating clouds move, as if the boat has set sail, which is extremely interesting. Around the stone boat, there were originally lotus and wild rice planted. In summer and autumn, with the gentle breeze blowing, the green clouds sway.

The fish in the lotus pond seem to understand human nature. With a slight clap, they will leave in groups. It is extremely interesting.

Opening hours: Open all year round from 08:00 to 17:15.
