Wan Gong Di is situated closely by the east side of Taihu Lake, echoing with the Suzhou Bay Bridge from afar. From an aerial view, it presents a striking contrast between modernity and history.
Named after Wan Qingxuan, a Qing Dynasty water conservancy expert, Wan Gong Di was constructed from the Sanli Bridge to the Dapu Bridge. Today, this route has become one of the important heritage sites of the Grand Canal, a national cultural heritage site known as ‘Jiuli Shitang’. It is open all year round and accessible 24 hours a day.
