Wang’s Residence

The Wang’s Residence was originally the private residence of Wang Derong, a businessman and calligraphy and painting collector. Mr. Wang’s ancestral home is Shimen, Zhenhai District, so his residence is called ‘Shimenshan Pavilion’. Three generations of the Wang family have been engaged in the processing industry of Ningbo’s local specialties. They opened Wang Chunmao Seafood Store on Chezhan Road in Jiangbei District. Mr. Wang actively participated in public welfare undertakings during his lifetime. This is a building that combines Chinese and Western elements and has obvious characteristics of the times. The overall layout adopts the traditional three-sided courtyard style. The front facade has a typical style of dwellings in eastern Zhejiang, while the gable is of the Western hard mountain protruding style. The courtyard patio, Western window grilles, vermilion lacquered carved doors, and blue brick paving. The inner hall, main hall, and corridors are laid with beautiful and unique patterns. Among them, the glass in the foyer is relatively distinctive. This glass was purchased by Wang Derong from Germany. It has a history of nearly a hundred years and still retains its original charm.
