The famous writer and educator Mr. Ye Shengtao taught in Luzhi for five years in 1917. His famous work ‘Harvesting Three to Five Bushels More’ is set against the background of Wansheng Rice Firm. Later, this article was selected into middle school textbooks, and Wansheng Rice Firm became known at home and abroad. Wansheng Rice Firm is a traditional store jointly run by two wealthy businessmen surnamed Shen and Fan in the town. The firm is large in scale, with nearly a hundred granaries for storing grain. It was the leading rice firm in the eastern part of Wu at that time and became one of the grain distribution centers for Luzhi and more than ten surrounding townships. Nowadays, Wansheng Rice Firm has been restored to its original appearance, reproducing the style of the rice market in the Jiangnan area during the Republic of China era. At the same time, the exhibition of agricultural tools of past dynasties in Jiangnan has been added, becoming a new landscape with unique water town flavor.
