The Wenfeng Pagoda is located by the ancient canal in the south of the city. It was built in 1582, the tenth year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty. The brick pagoda body is 40 meters high. The canal under the pagoda is the place where Jianzhen set sail for his eastward voyage to cross the sea and enter the Yangtze River. Standing on top of the pagoda, one can look south to see the great river and north to view the Shugang Mountain. The green Yangzhou city corridor is within full view. The Wenfeng Pagoda is a landmark pagoda seen when entering and leaving Yangzhou. It is a pavilion-style pagoda with seven stories on eight sides and a brick-wood hybrid structure. It is open from 08:30 to 17:00 all year round. The specific opening hours are subject to the on-site announcements of the scenic area.
