Wenwu Fangmen serves as the first gate to the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum. In 1998, our bureau restored the original architectural appearance of Wenwu Fangmen according to the Ming Dynasty Xiaoling regulations, opening up five gates and adding roofs with tiles.
Beneath the east wall of the main gate, a ‘Special Notice’ stele written in six languages: Japanese, German, Italian, English, French, and Russian, has been preserved, which was erected by local officials in the first year of the Xuantong era (1909).
The site is open all year round, available 24/7, with specific operating conditions subject to the day’s opening status.
