The Xihai Grand Canyon, also known as Baiyun Valley and Dream Scenic Area, is a newly developed scenic area in Huangshan Scenic Area. There are fewer group tourists and it is suitable for tourists who like hiking to explore. The valley is full of strange rocks and secluded caves. The footpaths are mostly built close to the precipice. Mystery and peril are the prominent characteristics of the scenery in this valley. The Xihai Grand Canyon is a space surrounded by strange peaks and rocks such as Shizhu Peak and Shichuang Peak nearby, Baodao Peak on the right front, the Flying Rock, Paiyun Pavilion opposite, Danxia Peak, Songlin Peak and Jiulong Peak and Yunwai Peak on the left front. The entire geographical location is in a ‘U’ shape. There are two entrances and exits, namely the north entrance of Paiyun Pavilion and the south entrance of Tianhai. If you stay near Paiyun Pavilion, you can choose Danxia Peak and Paiyun Pavilion to watch the sunrise and sunset. If you live in Tianhai, you can choose Guangmingding or Aoyu Peak to watch the sunset and sunrise. You can take the Taiping cableway to Danxia Station. If you lived near Paiyun Pavilion before, you can go to Danxia Peak early in the morning to enjoy the sunrise and take a distant view of the Flying Rock that appeared in A Dream of Red Mansions, and then enter the Grand Canyon from the north entrance of Paiyun Pavilion. However, before entering the Grand Canyon, you must check your equipment and food. Because you need to supplement some food and water in the next process. If you don’t have enough food and water, you can supplement it at Paiyun Pavilion. There is a canteen at Paiyun Pavilion where you can buy some snacks. After entering the Xihai Grand Canyon and walking to the bottom of the valley, there is a service station. Everyone can also rest here and supplement some water and food. After entering the Grand Canyon, pass through the first ring and the second ring and enter the bottom of the valley. There are signboards in the Grand Canyon, and you can follow the route on it. The section of road from the bottom of the valley to the south entrance of Tianhai is longer, accounting for three-fifths of the entire Grand Canyon. If you hike, you will pass the service station of the Grand Canyon and then reach the Buxian Bridge. Here is the south entrance of Tianhai. Of course, there is now a sightseeing cable car directly from the bottom of the valley to Tianhai, which is very convenient. If there are other scenic spots arranged on the same day, it is recommended to take the cable car, which can save time and energy. Regarding accommodation, there are two hotels, Baiyun Hotel and Tianhai Mountain Villa, in Tianhai. You can choose to stay there. In the evening, you can go to Guangmingding to watch the sunset by the way.
If you are staying near Pailing Pavilion, you can enter from the Tianhai South Entrance and follow the route in reverse to return near Pailing Pavilion. You can enjoy the sunset at Pailing Pavilion in the evening. For accommodation, you may choose Xihai Hotel or Pailing Building Hotel. Additionally, both hotels have restaurants where you can dine, or alternatively, you can purchase some Eight Treasure Porridge, instant noodles, and other snacks from the foot of the mountain to satisfy your hunger.
