The West Waterfall Grand Forest is composed of two parts: the West Cliff Waterfall and the Wan Song Forest. The total drop is about 360 meters. Wan Song Forest is also called Wan Song Rock. It is a large virgin forest growing on the rock. The waterfall and the strange pine trees form a Chinese ink wash landscape painting and are on the periphery of Zhaoming Grand Zen Temple.
The main attractions include Longnv Waterfall, Chanzhang Waterfall, Guanyin Waterfall, the Big Dipper, Seven Star Pond, Xiling Chuihong, etc. In the West Waterfall Grand Forest scenic area, the Hongqiao is the best place to view the waterfall. Here there is a unique landscape called ‘Xiling Chuihong’. It is said that the West Waterfall flows out from the canyon at the peaks of Daxian Peak and Erxian Peak. There is often a rainbow. The bridge spans the two peaks. The water passes through Baiyunwo and falls down like a long purple ribbon, splashing up snow-white pearls. It stretches for ten thousand feet. When the waterfall reaches here, it rushes into the Hongqiao and goes away in a carnival. Hence the name.
