Western City Pavilion is located at the foot of Yushan Mountain, and it is one of the ‘Eighteen Scenic Spots of Yushan’. It refers to a group of buildings on the southern slope of Yushan within the West City Gate, which includes Zhidao Temple, Dongyue Temple, Yan’s Reading Hall, Yan Gong Pavilion, and Dizang Temple, among others.
These buildings are very ancient and each has its own historical origin. Yan Gong Pavilion, once inhabited by a Ming Dynasty Minister of Rites, is particularly beautiful and an ideal place for leisure activities.
From the May Tower, one can overlook the scenery of Shang Lake, which is very refreshing and uplifting to the spirit.
