Wu General Temple, a local-funded and constructed memorial, stands to honor General Wu Zan. Following the ‘An Lushan Rebellion’ in the Tang Dynasty, General Wu Zan fell while defending Wuzhen. The locals have since revered him as a protective deity, and it is believed that the name ‘Wuzhen’ originates from this reverence. The temple itself does not draw a large number of tourists and lacks the picturesque spots that are ideal for photography. A leisurely stroll around the temple is deemed sufficient for most visitors.
The main gate of the temple has undergone renovation and presents a rather new appearance. Inside the central hall, the esteemed General Wu is enshrined, with his book attendant positioned behind him. Flanking the general are the deities of fire and water.
Visitors can purchase tickets for a boat tour along the Xizha waterways at the dock in front of Wu General Temple. This tour is also available for enjoyment during the night. The temple operates year-round, with opening hours from 08:00 to 17:00. For the most up-to-date information on opening times, please check the public notice at the scenic area.
