The Wu General Temple was funded and constructed by local residents in honor of General Wu Zan. After the Tang Dynasty’s ‘An Lushan Rebellion’, General Wu Zan died in defense of Wuzhen, and the locals regard him as a guardian deity. It is said that ‘Wuzhen’ got its name because of him. The temple is not crowded with tourists and does not offer any special scenic spots for photography; a simple stroll around is sufficient. The main gate of the temple has been renovated and appears quite new. In the main hall, the well-known General Wu is enshrined in the center, flanked by his book attendant, with the God of Fire and the God of Water on either side. In front of the Wu General Temple, at the dock, one can purchase tickets for a boat tour of the West Weir waterway, which is also available for night trips. The temple is open all year round from 08:00 to 17:00. For specific opening times, please refer to the public notice at the scenic area.
