Located in Pingwang Town, Wujiang District, Suzhou City, the Wujiang Canal Cultural Tourism Scenic Area is steeped in historical and cultural significance. Known as ‘Jinghang Ancient Canal Town’ with a rich humanistic heritage, Pingwang, established as a post station in the Tang Dynasty and a town in the Ming Dynasty, is also known as ‘Little Fengqiao’ and is one of the important transportation hubs in the Yangtze River Delta.
As a vital part of ‘Suzhou Canal Ten Scenes – Pingwang · Four Rivers Confluence’, the scenic area covers an area of 0.23 square kilometers. It boasts numerous historical sites and picturesque scenery, embodying the delicate charm of the Jiangnan water towns and the grand simplicity of Wu and Yue cultures. The beautiful Yingdu Lake, said to be one of the five lakes visited by Fan Li during the Spring and Autumn period, offers the stunning view of ‘Autumn Moon over the Calm Lake’.
