Wukang Building is located at No. 1842 – 1858, Middle Huaihai Road, Xuhui District, Shanghai. The building was built in 1924. Some celebrities in the cultural and performing arts circles have lived here. Wukang Building covers an area of 1580 square meters, with a total construction area of 9275 square meters. The building is generally of reinforced concrete structure, with eight floors and a total height of more than 30 meters.
Its appearance is in French Renaissance style. Due to the limited geographical location, the ground floor of the building adopts the arcade style, shrinking the storefront windows inward to leave space for sidewalks. In addition, the facade of the first and second floors uses cement imitated stone wall, making it the style of the building base. From the third floor to the seventh floor, the facade is replaced with tan bricks. The eighth floor on the top continues to use cement imitated stone wall, so the building presents three different sections. On the third floor and the eighth floor, the designer uses continuous long balconies as the three-stage waistline and at the same time strengthens its sense of hierarchy. On the north side of the building, in order to solve the problem of room lighting, the designer specially leaves two large patios inward on the north side. Open all day all year round. The exterior of historical buildings can be visited all day.Wukang Building
