Wuxi Film and Television Base is a direct subsidiary of China Central Television Media Co., Ltd. (stock code: CCTV Media 600088). Established in 1987, the base covers an area of approximately 1,200 acres, with usable water area of about 3,000 acres. The affiliated Three Kingdoms and Water Margin scenic areas were constructed for filming the historical masterpieces ‘Romance of the Three Kingdoms’ and ‘Water Margin’, making it one of the earliest theme scenic areas that perfectly integrate historical culture, film and television culture, and tourism culture in China, and it is also one of the first batch of national AAAAA-level tourist attractions.
The Three Kingdoms City and Water Margin City enjoy a superior geographical location, facing the vast Taihu Lake and backed by the lush Junshan Mountain, offering a picturesque natural scenery that fully embraces the spirit and beauty of Taihu Lake. The buildings within the scenic area are magnificent, simple and solemn, and well-arranged, with main attractions including the Palace of Wu King, Peach Garden, Ganlu Temple, Cao’s Water Camp, Purple Stone Street, Qingming Shanghe Street, Song Imperial Palace, and Liangshan Gathering Hall, among others.
The spectacular performance programs are a highlight of the scenic area. The large-scale horse battle performance ‘Three Heroes Fight against Lu Bu’ recreates the war scenes of the Three Kingdoms period with golden spears and iron horses, and the grand performance and shocking horse combat performances have won the hearts of countless audiences. The film stunt performance ‘Fight and Kill Ximen Qing’ recreates the exciting story of Wu Song avenging his brother and fighting against Ximen Qing, revealing the mysteries of special effects commonly used in film and television shooting, such as flying people, aerial combat, burning people, fire and explosion effects, all of which are displayed in the program.
These long-running exciting performances in the Three Kingdoms and Water Margin scenic area showcase the classic stories from historical masterpieces that are well-known and popular. The scenic area offers a rich variety of participatory projects. Activities such as taking an ancient boat tour on Taihu Lake, Zhuge’s Crossbow, the Eight Trigrams Formation, and the Naval Training Camp are interesting and memorable, making people linger and forget to return.
As a famous film and television shooting base in China, it has hosted the shooting of thousands of domestic and foreign films and TV dramas, including ‘Romance of the Three Kingdoms’, ‘Water Margin’, ‘Emperor Tang Minghuang’, ‘Palace Words’, ‘The Smiling, Proud Wanderer’, ‘The Great Gate’, ‘The Legend of the Condor Heroes’, ‘The World’s Granary’, ‘The Beauty’s Stratagem’, ‘The Legend of Wu Mei Niang’, ‘When the Flowers Bloomed in Full Moon’, ‘The Story of Minglan’, and ‘Are You Sure, It’s Green Fat Red Thin’.

Senior citizens aged 69 and above (excluding 69) with valid identification enter for free; those aged between 60 and 69 (inclusive) with valid identification receive a half-price discount.
