The Wuxi Grand Theater boasts a distinctive form, resembling eight ‘wings’ of a butterfly perched by the city’s waterfront when viewed from above. Both its exterior and interior decorations utilize advanced materials from both domestic and international sources. The theater extensively employs glass curtain walls, and bamboo has been used in place of wood for flooring, seating, and walls. Five of the ‘leaf’ sections cover the main auditorium, which can accommodate over 1700 spectators, while the remaining three sections cover the multifunctional performance hall, capable of seating more than 700 spectators. The main entrance hall is situated between the two sets of ‘leaves’, with a glass roof that unites them. This arrangement successfully divides the building into two parts, one facing the Jinshi Road main entrance on the south side of the city, and the other facing the future subway entrance. The main entrance road on the south side of the building will have two entrances leading to the ground-floor public parking area, coach parking area, and taxi waiting area. There are two walkways encircling the building on the ground floor and a 6-meter-high pedestal, with an additional lakeside walkway along the lake. The opening hours and business status are subject to the day’s opening conditions.
