The Wuxi Grand Theatre has a unique shape. Viewed from above, it is like eight ‘wings’, like a butterfly landing by the city’s waterside. From the exterior to the interior decoration, advanced materials at home and abroad are currently used. The theatre makes extensive use of glass curtain walls. Bamboo is used instead of wood from the ground, seats to walls. Five of the eight ‘leaves’ cover the main performance hall that can accommodate more than 1,700 spectators, and three cover the multi-functional performance hall that can accommodate more than 700 spectators. The main entrance hall is located between the two groups of ‘leaves’, and is covered by a glass roof to combine them. This combination successfully divides the building into two parts. One side is the main entrance on Jinshi Road in the south of the city, and the other side is the future subway entrance and exit. There will be two entrances on the main entrance road on the south side of the building, leading to the public parking area on the first floor, the bus parking area and the taxi waiting area. There is a promenade around the building on the first floor and on the base 6 meters high respectively. There is also a lakeside promenade along the lake.
