The Wuxi pottery course is a creative and hands-on art course. It stems from the long-standing pottery tradition of Wuxi Vocational Institute of Arts & Technology. This course is mainly for students interested in pottery. Through systematic teaching and practice, students can deeply understand the history, culture and production techniques of pottery. In the Wuxi pottery course, students will learn the basic characteristics of clay, the basic tools and usage methods of pottery production, and experience various techniques of pottery production through practice. The course content includes multiple aspects such as ceramic modeling design, ceramic molding design, modern pottery, ceramic mold making, and ceramic decoration. It aims to cultivate students’ artistic aesthetics, hands-on ability and innovative thinking. The Wuxi pottery course also pays attention to the combination with local culture. By introducing resources such as Wuxi Huishan clay figurines and Yixing purple sand crafts, students can better understand and inherit local culture while learning pottery. After the course, students will be able to independently complete the creation of pottery works and have the opportunity to participate in the pottery works exhibition organized by the school to show their learning results.
