Within Xuanwu Lake, there are numerous historical sites and famous landmarks. Among them is a structure known as the Liansheng Tower, also referred to as the Lakeside Mountain Victory Tower, originally constructed during the Six Dynasties period. It was reconstructed in the first year of the Xuantong era by Xu Shaozhen, a military commander of the New Army, and has since become a gathering place for literati and refined scholars to compose poetry and form societies.
